Where should a fan be mounted to achieve the most effective ventilation and cooling? |

What is the function of the alarm feature on a fan? |
|
|
The fan alarm feature works when there is some type of abnormality in operation. For most AC fans, the alarm output signal is triggered when the fan speed drops below 1800 +/- 300 rpm. For most DC fans, the alarm output signal is triggered when the fan blades are in a locked condition. Please see Oriental Motor's catalogs for specifics of the fan model you are using. |

Am I able to purchase replacement fan blades from Oriental Motor? |
|
|
Unfortunately, no. The only way to guarantee our stated performance is to strictly adhere to our factory's standards as they relate to assembly procedures. In this case, this is a blade-balancing procedure that is performed at the factory to ensure a quality product, so fan blades cannot be replaced. |

Can fans be used above the operating voltage range? |
|
|
AC and DC fans are designed to be used only within their specified operating voltage range. The general range for AC products is +/-10% of the rated voltage, and for DC products, +/-15% of the rated voltage. Please refer to the appropriate catalog for specific ranges which may vary from model to model, especially on DC products. |

Are fans, like motors, equipped with overheat protection devices? |
|
|
All AC fans in the ORIX Fan line that meet UL, CSA and EN/IEC standards either have motors with impedance protection or are equipped with a thermal protector. The DC fan includes a current detection function in the drive circuit. In the case of abnormalities, the fan input current is controlled to prevent an increase in temperature and thus guard against burning out the fan motor. |

Is there a simple way to suppress noise emitted by an axial-flow fan? |
|
|
Normally, fan noise decreases as fan speed decreases. Axial-flow fans (excluding MRS series) are available in three speed types: standard-, middle-speed and low-speed. Noise can be reduced by using middle-speed or low-speed fans. For example, to reduce noise while obtaining the same air-flow as a standard speed fan, a large-sized middle-speed or low-speed fan should be used. |

No. All fans are tested after the assembly. Any assembly work performed outside of our factory would not allow us to guarantee our stated performance. |

What is impedance protection? |
|
|
The impedance protected fans are designed with higher impedance in the windings. The higher temperature increases the resistance. Thus, less current passes through the wire and the fan is protected from over heating. |
