Oriental Motor USA is pleased to announce the introduction of the “Self Correcting” function now available in our CRK Series with Built-in Controller. This function further expands the ability of the stepping motor, adding additional insurance for design engineers.

Stepping motors offer the greatest value in positioning performance and are designed to operate in an open loop configuration (no error is required). For those customers who require verifying the move, encoder options are available. The Self Correcting function adds a third level to the stepping motor. The CRK Series with built-in controller for self correcting requires an encoder (or another feedback device) to determine the motor has lost synchronism in order to correct the move.

Self Correcting

How it works, the software continuously monitors the encoder counter and commanded position. Once the software has determined synchronism is lost, the Self Correction function calculates the deviation between the commanded position and the encoder counter and sends a motion command to correct for the deviation error, keeping the same distance. We call this function “Self Correcting”. The Self Correction function works during the motion profile as well as when the motor is in position (stopped).

If torque is broken during positioning (holding the position) the Self Correction function will correct and return back to the original position.

Available in five frame sizes, 20mm, 28mm, 42mm and 60mm, the CRK Series offers unique advantages in the stepping motor market with a high resolution of 0.36º or 0.72º stepping motor, a wide motor selection with 3 gear types and an advanced microstepping driver with Smooth Drive built in.  Harmonic (HG), Planetary (PS) and Taper Hobbed (TH) gears are available for all frame sizes. Oriental Motor offers the widest stepping motor product line up and motor frame sizes in the industry, from 20 mm (0.79 in) to 90 mm (3.54 in) with many powerful performance characteristics.
