LINEAR
AND ROTARY ACTUATORS
ORIENTAL MOTOR offers a
wide range of linear and rotary actuators to meet the need of various
applications. These actuators
combine ORIENTAL MOTOR’s step motor products with linear and rotary
components to create all-in-one solutions that save you time and money
usually necessary to develop such systems. In addition, these actuators
provide more compact design and allow for downsizing of your
application.
NEW!
EZS II SERIES MOTORIZED LINEAR SLIDES
The
new EZS II Series motorized linear slides combine
an stepping
motor, feedback system, ball
screw and linear guide in an all-in-one compact body. Utilizing the system enables high response
and the ability to eliminate missteps. The performance of
the allows the EZS II to provide
quick positioning operation.

Large Transportable
Mass
The EZS II Series can perform positioning at high
speeds, supporting large
transportable mass. Since the space outside the linear
slide's operating range
is
minimized,
the overall system size can be
reduced.

Space
Saving
The
total length of linear slide is shorter for every stroke or model,
which enables space-saving design of your equipment. |

Maintenance-Free
for Long-Term Performance
The
ball screw employs the THK QZ™ lubrication system, while the THK LM
Guide®
uses
the Ball Retainer®
to
retain the coupled rolling elements.
The
ball screw and THK LM Guide®
use
AFF grease with reduced dust-raising property, which is designed for
use in clean rooms.
A
simple roller mechanism is adopted to prevent the
stainless sheet from wearing quickly. The roller structure
suppresses dust generation caused by relative sliding of the
stainless sheet and the
table.
Sensorless High-Speed Return to Home
Operation at Speeds up to 100 mm/s
We
have developed a dedicated stop buffer to achieve the sensorless
return to home operation at a maximum speed of 100 mm/s. Once
the motor detects table contact with the stop buffer, it will
perform the return to home operation at 6
mm/s. |

DG
SERIES HOLLOW ROTARY ACTUATOR
 |
The DG Series is a rotary actuator featuring a hollow
output table that allows large-inertia discs and arms to be
installed directly. The range of applications has widened with the
addition of models with a frame size of 200 mm (7.87 in.) and
permissible torque of 50 Nm (440 lb-in).

High
Output, High Rigidity
The hollow output table is integrated with a
high rigidity cross-roller bearing*. This structure improves
permissible thrust load and moment load while maintaining high
torque.

Large-Diameter,
Hollow Output Table
A hollow hole
(through hole) of sufficiently large diameter helps reduce the
complexity of wiring and piping, thus further simplifying your
equipment design.

Permissible
Torque
The hollow rotary actuators with larger
permissible torque deliver stable, high speed positioning of larger
inertial loads. Select the model that best suits your
application.
Rigidity
The
output table uses deep-groove ball bearings (two pieces) for the 60
mm (2.36 in.) frame size type, and a cross-roller bearing for the 85
mm (3.35 in.), 130 mm (5.12 in.) and
200 mm (7.87 in.) frame size types. As the frame size increases, the
permissible moment load also increases but the displacement caused
by the moment load decreases. |

DRL
SERIES COMPACT LINEAR ACTUATORS
 |
The
DRL Series allows for size reduction while
improving the accuracy of your equipment.
The
drive mechanism adopts a 5-phase stepping motor with ball screw. The
DRL Series achieves high positioning accuracy in a space-saving
design.
The extensive lineup includes a high-resolution motor and
longer stroke.
The actuator size was reduced by using
Oriental Motor's original technology. The compact and lightweight
body houses the rotating components as well as the linear motion
mechanism of the stepping motor. The DRL Series helps to achieve a
significant reduction in the size of your equipment and system. To
meet the user's requirements for higher positioning accuracy, all
models can be ordered with a ground ball screw model [repetitive
positioning accuracy: ±0.005
mm (±0.0002 in.)]. |
|
Significantly
Fewer Parts and Required Man-Hours
The
compact body houses the entire linear-motion mechanism, with some of
the conventional parts eliminated for a more streamlined structure.
This substantially reduces the man-hours required for design and
assembly of your equipment, so you will enjoy higher production
efficiency.

Electromagnetic
Brake
The
load position can be held when the power is cut off. Since the
work will not fall in case of power failure or disconnection,
you can safely use equipment in which the work moves
vertically.
Adjusting
Knob
The
load position can be adjusted manually when the power is cut
off. This function is useful during servicing of the
equipment. |

MOTION CONTROL QUESTIONS? ASK AN
ORIENTAL MOTOR ENGINEER
 |
 |
Oriental
Motor's Engineering Team is just a click away. Send your
motion control questions to Oriental Motor's engineers and we'll
publish their response in an upcoming issue of New
Motion. |
Q: I have an application
repeating several motions for manufacturing process.
I need to process the next motion as quick as possible to increase
the production rate and as simple as possible for less wiring.
How can I approach to these?
A:
Using
the Sequential Positioning Mode and the END output signal may achieve
these requirements.
Enter
the series of motion data in the order of your manufacturing process from
DATA1.
Leave
M0-M5 OFF to select the Sequential mode, Use the START signal to execute
the motion data. Wait for the END output signal, then repeat START signal
for next motion in the order.
The
END output signal means the system is ready for the next motion, which is
output when the current motion is completed.
You can send START input 1 msec after receiving END.

Q: Does
the EZ II controller recognize the linear position after the power is down
either on purpose or accidentally?
This would minimize the down time since I can re-start the
operation immediately without run a homing cycle.
A:
Using
the battery pack (optional part) may help this situation.
It can provide power to the controller to hold the data in EEPROM
memory for 96 hours when the main power is down.
