About RoHS
RoHS,
the European Union Directive 2002/95/EC, on the restriction
of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical
and electronic equipment will apply to any equipment for
use or import into an EU member state beginning July 2006.
The restricted substances include; Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg),
Hexavalent Chromium Cr (VI), Polybrominated biphenyls -
PBB, Polybrominated diphenyl ethers - PBDE and Cadmium (Cd).
Electrical and electronic equipment must conform to "a maximum
concentration value of 0.1% by weight in homogeneous materials
for lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenals
(PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) and 0.01%
by weight in homogeneous materials for cadmium".

Motor announces the release of our full line of RoHS compliant-
AlphaStep closed loop stepping systems and RK series 5-phase
microstepping systems. In addition to being fully RoHS
compliant and environmentally friendly, Oriental Motor is
launching new features and improvements to both product families
to offer even more choices to meet your application needs.
The new
AlphaStep series products not only meet RoHS standards, Oriental
Motor has also added a new Protective Earth terminal to the
motors (excluding the 1.65 in. frame size). We've also
adopted a new modified bearing whcih gives our standard and
electromagnetic brake type motors twice the Motor Life (does
not include 1.65 in. frame size or geared motors).
Oriental
Motor has expanded the DC input ASC series to include
two new gearing options for our 1.10 in. frame size.
Tapered
Hob (TH) gearhead now available for 1.10
in. frame size. The TH gearhead is available in ratios
of 7.2:1, 10:1, 20:1 and 30:1 and offers low backlash and
high-speed oepration.
Planetary
(PN) gearhead now available for 1.10 in. frame
size. The PN gearhead is available 5:1, 7.2: and 10:1
gear ratios and features non-backlash operation, high positioning
precision and a high permissible/maximum torque.

The AC input
RK series microstep systems now offer fully RoHS compliant
solutions as well as the new Protective Earth terminals (excluding
the 1.65 in. frame size). Oriental Motor has also expanded
the product line to include our new IP65 rated 5-phase step motors
which offer water and dust ingress protection for more demanding
operating environments.
The newly
modified bearing offers extended motor life for the standard-type
motors (does not include 1.65 in. frame size or geared motors).
