INTRODUCING THE NEW 2-PHASE MICROSTEPPING RBK
SERIES
|
The
RBK Series is a DC input microstepping
driver and an IP65
rated, 2-phase stepping
motor in one package.
The compact, high-performance,
microstepping driver features Oriental Motor's proprietary
Smooth Drive Function, to easily achieve low-vibration
operation.
The RBK Series utilizes a constant current driver with a wide
voltage range of 20 to 75 VDC and Max. 4.5 A/phase* effective value
(6.3 A/phase peak value). This enables it to support a wide
range of power sources.
* 4.5 A/Phase is factory
setting. A desired operating current can be set via selection from
among the 55 preset levels (From 0.08 A/Phase to 4.5 A /Phase). No
need to use external resistance for setting the
current.
The RBK microstepping driver can be used with any
of Oriental Motor's 2-Phase stepping motors with Bipolar rated
currents up to 4.5 A/phase. Oriental Motor offers a wide range
of compatible step motors:

Microstep
Driver and Low Vibration Operation
The microstepping driver
electronically divides the basic step angle of the motor (1.8°/step)
by up to 128 without the use of a reduction mechanism or other
mechanical element. 16 different resolution levels are
available. The available range of resolution settings
is 200 (1.8°/step) to 25600 (0.0140625°/step) steps per revolution.
The step angle adjustment is easy and convenient using
the built-in switches on the front
of the driver.
|
|
The RBK also features three advanced
functions which further enhance the low-vibration performance.
-
Smooth Drive Function - The Smooth Drive Function
internally executes microstepping within the driver, working
independently of the input pulse frequency of your controller. This
allows for the same travel and speed as in the full-step mode, without
the operator having to change the speed settings of the driver's pulse
input. The Smooth Drive Function enables low-vibration operation
available when microstepping with the flick of a switch without needing
to upgrade your pulse generator.
-
Third Harmonic Waveform Correction Function -
This function corrects
any imperfections in the sinusoidal shaped motor drive current
waveforms. Sinusoidal motor current waveforms help to provide
improved step angle accuracy and reduced motor
vibration.
-
Vibration Suppression Function - This function reduces the
amplitude of motor vibration in the medium speed range of the stepping
motors. It reduces the risk of missing steps due to
vibrations.
Alarm Output for Additional
Safety
The driver's alarm functions
protect the driver from overheat, overvoltage and overcurrent. When a
protective function is triggered, the ALM output turns OFF, blinks the
ALARM LED on the driver, and simultaneously shuts off the motor current to
stop motor operation.

Q:
What is loss of synchronization in
step motors?
A: Stepping motors are synchronized by
pulses. They can lose their synchronization when speed changes
rapidly or an overload occurs. Loss of synchronization is the term
for losing synchronization with the input pulse. If a motor is
correctly selected and normally operated it will not suffer a sudden loss
of synchronization.
