The Brushless Motor Advantage
Brushless motors offer a great deal in design flexibility, are high performing and maintenance free motors that provide significant cost of ownership value. The Brushless Motor advantage is characterized by a wide speed, flat torque curve with a speed range as low as 3 r/min and as high as 4,000 r/min with up to 970 lb-in. Brushless motors are compact and space saving and are available with our quick and stable lead times. Learn more about the Brushless Motor advantage.

Cooling Fans
| NEW! MDA Series, DC Axial Flow Fans with Low-Speed Alarm |
The MDA Series, DC Axial Flow Fans are now available with a low speed alarm output. This series features a built-in alarm circuit that the host controller can recognize if the fan speed drops. This is important for noticing quick drops in the cooling capacity of the fan caused by a service life issue or from foreign objects. Additional benefits of the low speed alarm function are increase reliability and longer life of your machine. Each MDA Series comes with all the necessary items for installation which makes ordering simple and easy.
- Low Speed Alarm Function
- Easy to Connect Types

Precisely Controlling Torque and Speed While Minimizing Cost
Q: I am designing a new mixer for pharmaceutical and food use. A liquid compound will need to be mixed to its required viscosity at a specific speed before use. This requires a motor system to control its output torque and speed precisely. Once the specific torque and speed are met, the motor will need to stop and send an output signal to the main controller so that the next process can start. Depending on the type of liquid compound, the required torque limit value and speed will be different. My existing machine design uses a variable frequency drive and an 1/8 HP AC gearmotor with a 25:1 gear ratio, and a transducer/torque sensor. I'd like to simplify and reduce the overall cost of my speed control system by eliminating the torque sensor, but at the same time gain speed and torque control accuracy. Is this possible?
A: There are a few solutions for precise torque control. A servo motor system may be the common solution. A step motor system may be another. However, a more cost-effective Brushless DC motor system should not be overlooked as an alternative solution because it can also provide the same precise torque control function without complicating your system with additional electronics. Oriental Motor is capable of offering all 3 types of motor systems.
