January 2011 Featured Products

Stepping Motors

newPlanetary (PS) Geared Stepping Motors
High Permissible/Maximum Torque
High Speed, Low Gear Ratios
Cost Effective
PS Type

The new planetary (PS) line of 0.72º stepping motors are now available in unit packages or as a motor only. The PS geared stepping motor offers excellent high speed performance with high permissible and high maximum torques. They are cost effective and are available in 6 popular gear ratios and 4 frame sizes. Click here to learn more.

Brushless Motors

BLH Brushless Speed Control System
Wide Speed Range
High Permissible Torque
Space Saving
Long-life/High-strength Gearhead
BLH

Brushless motors allow for a wide speed range with excellent speed stability combined with a flat torque curve. Brushless motors are very compact yet powerful and are up to 23% more efficient than an inverter controlled AC motor speed control system. The BLH Series combines a slim, high-power brushless motor with a compact, board-type driver, with output power of 15 to 100 W (1/50 to 1/8 HP). The BLH Series is also available with a long-life, high-strength gearhead. Click here to learn more.

AC Motors & Gearmotors

World K Series
Wide Selection
1W ~ 90W
Long Life Motor & Gears
Single Phase or Three Phase
world k

The World K Series is the global name of our standard AC motors with output power ranging from 1/750 to 1/8 hp (1W ~ 90 W). This lineup includes models conforming to the RoHS and other international safety standards. The World K Series features induction, reversible, electromagnetic brake, torque, synchronous and water tight models. This series also features a wide variety of high-strength gearheads from parallel, right angle and linear type models and accessories. Click here to learn more.

Linear & Rotary Actuators

DG Series Hollow Rotary Actuators
Accurate Positioning
High Output, High Rigidity
Large-Diameter, Hollow Output Table
Less Hassle with Direct Coupling
DG final

The DG Series is a rotary actuator featuring a hollow output table that allows large-inertia loads to be installed directly. The DG Series has accurate positioning and is extremely durable, featuring cross-roller bearings. The DG Series also has high permissible torque for larger inertial loads which makes machine design, wiring and maintenance simple. Click here to learn more.

Cooling Fans

MRS Series Axial Flow Fans
High Efficiency
Large Airflow
Available with built-in alarm
Internal power control device
MRS

The MRS Series Axial Flow fans boast high efficiency, large airflow, high static pressure and are available in mounting bases ranging from 5.51 to 9.84 in (140~250 mm). MRS Series is recognized by UL/CSA standards, conforms to EN/IEC and CE Low Voltage Directives. Models are also available with built-in alarm circuits that can detect fan rotation abnormalities and respond by outputting alarm signals. Click here to learn more.

Oriental Motor Can-Do! Ask an Oriental Motor Engineer a Question: We're Here to Help!

Oriental Motor's Engineering Team is just a click away. Send your motion control questions to Oriental Motor's engineers and we'll publish their response on our Motion Control Forum.

Below is this month's "Question of the Month".

Q:
My load is going to increase in size and weight. What should be my concerns?

A: Increasing the size and weight will increase the inertia of the load and the torque required to move the load. Gearing is a great option for overcoming large inertia loads as it will decrease the reflected inertia on the motor by the gear ratio squared. Adding a gear ratio will also increase the amount of torque generated.

Typically, the torque produced is equal to the motor torque multiplied by the gear ratio and the efficiency of the gear. However, there are instances when the output torque is limited based on other mechanical reasons, such as gear teeth strength, gear case strength, or gear carrier strength.
