FLEXBLE Series Brushless DC (BLDC) Motors & Drivers Brushless DC Motors - BLE Series with Built-in Controller (Stored Data)

The BLE Series continues our new standard for brushless DC motors with up to 4,000 r/min in an energy saving, compact package and is available in 30 watt (1/25 HP) up to 120 watt (1/6 HP). For maximum torque, the BLE Series comes with a parallel gear or hollow shaft flat gear producing up to 600 lb-in of torque. For vertical or load holding applications, an electromagnetic brake option is available. All motors are IP65 protected.

FLEX is the generic name for products that are used for Factory Automation (FA) network control via I/O control, Modbus (RTU) control, or a network converter. FLEX products enable easy connection, easy control and reduce the complexity of system configuration.

By using the Controller Module or Data Setting Software, extended functions are available including speed settings, torque limiting and further improvements in performance.

Compared with conventional models, the speed control range of the
BLE Series brushless DC motor is greatly expanded and is capable of high-speed applications up to the maximum speed of 4000 r/min.

The speed regulation (load) is ±0.5%. For this reason, this mechanism ensures that the motor drives at a stable speed over its entire speed range from low to high, even when the load condition fluctuates.

Energy Savings

Brushless DC motors use permanent magnets in the rotor. In comparison with an inverter-controlled motor, there is high efficiency and little loss, which means that energy savings is possible.

Select Cable Length or a Flexible Connection Cable

Connection cables for the motor and driver must be used. The distance between the motor and driver can be extended up to 20m (65.6 ft.).

Use a flexible cable if the cable will be bent or flexed.

Electromagnetic Brake Models Available for Vertical Drive

The motor with an electromagnetic brake enables stable speed control even during vertical drive (gravitational operation). When the power is turned off, the motor stops instantaneously to hold the load in place. The electromagnetic brake is automatically controlled via the driver in accordance with ON/OFF of the operation command signal.

Space-Saving and Low-Cost
The output shaft can be coupled directly to your drive shaft without using a coupling. The flexible installation modes, such as installation on either the front or rear face or by using the center shaft, allows you to reduce the size and installation space of your equipment. Since no shaft-coupling parts are needed, the parts cost and assembly man-hours will also decrease.

 

High Permissible Torque
While the parallel shaft gearhead lets the permissible torque saturate at high gear ratios, the hollow shaft flat gearhead enables the motor torque to be utilized to its maximum capability.

FLEX Compatibility for Connecting to Various Master Control Systems

1. I/O

Connects directly to a switch box or PLC for simple control.

2. Modbus (RTU) / RS-485

Operating data and parameters can be set and operation commands can be input using RS-485 communication. Up to 31 drivers can be connected to each serial communication module. Also, there is a function that enables the simultaneous start of multiple axes. The protocol supports Modbus (RTU), enabling connection with devices such as touch screen (HMI) and PCs.

3. Factory Automation (FA) Network

Use of a network converter (sold separately) enables support with CC-Link, MECHATROLINK or EtherCAT communication. Operating data and parameters can be set and operation commands can be input using various communication methods.

The standard type controls the motor by receiving input from the switch box, PLC, etc. Motor speed alarm and other signals are output to the master control system.

Built-in Controller (Stored Data) Type

Built-in Controller Type

The built-in controller(stored data) type can be controlled directly from a touch screen (HMI) or other master control systems. The output of various operational status, such as motor speed and load factor are communicated back to the master control system which leads to improved device reliability.


 

Further improvements in performance and function are possible by using an optional Control Module (sold separately) or the MEXE02 Data Setting Software (available as a free software download).

Use of the Data Setting Software* for setting and editing operating data and parameters, a computer can monitor I/O and operating speed waveform. The Data Setting Software is available as a free software download.

Expansion of Speed Control Range to 80 to 4000 r/min

The digital speed setting function expands the speed control range
to cover 80 to 4000 r/min (speed ratio 50:1). Speed control range can be expanded through the MEXE02 Data Setting Software (available as a free software download) or OPX-2A Control Module (sold separately).

This three-piece coupling adopts an aluminum alloy hub and a resin spider. The simple construction ensures that the high torque generated by a gear motor can be transmitted reliably. The proper elasticity of the spider suppresses motor vibration.

Regeneration Unit (EPRC-400P)

Regeneration Unit

During vertical drive (gravitational operation) and when starting and stopping large inertia loads rapidly, external forces cause the motor to rotate and function as a power generator. When that occurs, if the regenerative power exceeds the capacity of the driver to absorb, failure may result. In such cases, the regeneration unit is connected to the drive and the regenerative power is released as heat energy.
