For this case study, our application engineering group combined 2 OVR Series articulated robots and MRC robot controllers with our BLH Series brushless DC motors to run two conveyors to demonstrate a working example of the warehouse work roles; Picking, Packing, Shipping, Receiving, Unpacking and Stocking.
The material handling demo consists of two OVR robots, one 5-Axis articulated robot and one 4-Axis palletizer robot and two conveyors.
The 5-Axis OVR articulated robot uses 2 end effectors, one two-finger electrical gripper and one linear actuator using THK KR46 driven by AZ Series battery-less absolute sensor step-servo motor.
Two conveyors are driven by BLH Series, compact DC brushless motors.
The two robots are controlled by MRC robot controllers.
In the picking station, a vision system capture the image of the target and recognize its location in terms of the vision coordinate, X, Y and Angle, and send then to the MRC robot controller through Ethernet IP communication. The MRC robot controller use its build-in function to calibrate the vision coordinate to the robot coordinate, and command the robot to pick the target and place the target into the shipping box using parallelizing command. After the packing is done, the conveyor carry/ship the package to the receiving station.
The OVR4, 4-Axis palletizer robot unpack the container by removing the lid, and continue with receiving process. The OVR4 robot use Schmalz pneumatic suction cup to pick the targets and place them on the other conveyor. Through its process, the OVR4 utilize its point-to-point, linear interpolation, circular interpolation and parallelizing function commands to do the work.
The two conveyor motors are controlled by MRC robot controller directly along with the Eysenck laser sensors. The MRC controller uses the Direct Output to command the conveyor motor, BLH Series brushless DC motor, to run. And the MRC stops the conveyor motor when the Keyence laser sensor trigger the target.
