Oriental Motor Introduces EL Series Electric Lifting Columns for Expanded Robot Vertical Range

High-Rigidity Ball Spline Design Reduces TCP Wobble, Design Risk, and Start-Up Time

July 17, 2026 – Oriental Motor is pleased to announce the release of the EL Series Electric Lifting Columns, designed to expand a robot's vertical operating range without compromising precision. When combined with a robot, the EL Series' high-rigidity construction supports high moment loads while minimizing vibration and TCP (Tool Center Point) wobble. The EL Series is available in 50 mm, 100 mm, 200 mm, and 300 mm stroke lengths, helping reduce equipment design, assembly, and start-up time.

Reducing Design Risk and TCP Wobble

Supporting an overhanging robot can be difficult: if the vertical guide isn't rigid enough, the TCP can wobble. Customers who build their own lift axis often can't confirm rigidity or vibration performance until after the equipment is fully assembled — a costly risk. The EL Series is a pre-tested lifting column that helps reduce design risk, rework, and start-up time.

An Ideal Match for Full 360° OVR SCARA Robots

Oriental Motor's compact OVR SCARA robot features a slim design. In applications where the robot body needs to move up and down, a wall-mounted electric slide can interfere with the robot's operating area. The EL Series expands the vertical range while keeping the layout compact and preserving the robot's full omnidirectional movement.

Key features include

• Compatible with Small OVR Robots: OVR articulated and SCARA robots mount directly to the EL Series body. The mounting dimensions of the moving part are compatible with the DGII Series hollow rotary actuator horizontal mount type, including the DGB85R and DGB130R models.
• High Rigidity, Accuracy, and Moment Support via Ball Splines: Highly rigid ball splines enable a permissible moment load of 80 N·m, making the EL Series ideal for use with SCARA robots.
