NOM-033-2019 Update 2026

Dear Valued Customer,

We are writing to share an important regulatory update in Mexico that may affect the importation of certain Oriental Motor products.

Regulatory Update

Mexico updated Norma Official Mexicana NOM-033-2019 in September 2026. Certain Oriental Motor products may fall within the scope of the revised regulation. Products identified as potentially affected may undergo additional review by Mexican customs authorities and could be held pending verification of compliance.

Products Within Scope

The revised NOM-033-2019 applies to air-cooled AC electric motors that meet all of the following criteria:

• Nominal voltage of up to 240 V
• Output power from 1 W to less than 180 W
• Two (2), four (4), or six (6) pole squirrel-cage induction design, or electronically commutated/switched design

Potential Customer Impact

Customers using products that incorporate motors meeting these specifications may be affected by the updated requirements.

Our Response

Oriental Motor is actively evaluating the revised requirements and determining the appropriate next steps to support customers in Mexico. We will share additional information as it becomes available.
